Palm Island (also known as Bwgcolman) is an Aboriginal community approx 65 kilometres northeast of Townsville in northern Queensland.

Corrina’s first step towards building the life she wants

Corrina Ross is a young Aboriginal woman from Palm Island in Queensland who was worried she would have to leave home to get a job. But thanks to the Australian Government’s Community Development Programme (CDP), Corrina gained the skills required to get a job to stay on Palm Island and contribute to her community’s future.

Palmerston is located in the Top End and Tiwi Island region. The area represents Bakewell - Rosebery - Mitchell, Driver, Farrar - Durack - Marlow Lagoon, Gray, Moulden, Palmerston Indigenous Village and Woodroffe.
